The Relationship Between CO₂ and Skin
Beyond surface hydration, Plage beaute uses carbon dioxide in Realize Pack as part of a special-care approach designed with the skin environment in mind. Here, we explain the relationship between CO₂ and skin.
What happens when carbon dioxide interacts with skin?
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is a gas that can pass through the skin. Research on transcutaneous CO₂ has reported changes in skin microcirculation, local blood flow, and tissue oxygenation.
One mechanism discussed in this context involves vasodilation and the Bohr effect, in which changes in CO₂ concentration can influence how readily hemoglobin releases oxygen to tissues.
How transcutaneous CO₂ is understood to work
-
CO₂ passes through the skin
CO₂ moves from the skin surface into underlying tissue. -
Local vascular responses occur
Changes in local CO₂ concentration can be associated with changes in local blood flow, including the microcirculation. -
Oxygen release to tissue may become easier
This is related to the Bohr effect, in which oxygen can be released from hemoglobin to tissue more readily under certain conditions. -
The local skin environment changes
Changes in oxygen availability and microcirculation are among the environmental factors studied in relation to normal cellular activity in skin.
*The above is a general explanation based on research into transcutaneous CO₂. It does not indicate a therapeutic or medical effect from a cosmetic product.
More than simply placing moisture on the skin.
Conventional sheet masks are primarily designed to deliver surface moisture and help reduce dryness.
Realize Pack is a two-part CO₂ pack. Mixing the two components generates carbon dioxide, and the setting formula stays in close contact with the skin.
The goal is not only to deliver cosmetic ingredients to the skin surface, but to create a special-care experience that also makes use of the physical properties of CO₂.
Designed to generate CO₂ for approximately 60 minutes.
Realize Pack generates carbon dioxide when Step 1 and Step 2 are mixed immediately before use.
The CO₂ generation is designed to continue for approximately 60 minutes, allowing the setting pack to remain in close contact with the skin for an extended special-care period.
It is designed to bring an intensive, salon-inspired special-care step into a home routine.
PATENTED TECHNOLOGY
A CO₂ pack using patented technology.
Realize Pack uses patented technology related to the generation of carbon dioxide.
The technology is designed to generate CO₂ in a stable manner within a pack that adheres closely to the skin. This technical background is one of the distinctive features of Realize Pack.
*The scope of the patent is based on the patent rights held by the manufacturer or technology provider.
CO₂ plus skincare ingredients, designed together.
Realize Pack is not designed solely to generate carbon dioxide.
The formula combines a vitamin C derivative and other skincare ingredients with the CO₂ pack format, allowing both elements to be incorporated into one special-care step.
The concept behind Realize Pack is to combine the CO₂ experience and skincare ingredients in a single treatment.
Thinking beyond the surface of the skin.
The appearance of dryness, uneven texture, dullness, or reduced firmness can be influenced by many factors.
That is why Plage beaute values care designed not only for temporary surface moisture, but for maintaining a well-conditioned skin environment.
Realize Pack is one special-care product that represents this approach.
When to consider it
- When dryness or uneven texture are concerns
- When skin looks dull and you want a brighter-looking impression
- When firmness or glow are concerns
- As special care after significant UV exposure, if the skin feels comfortable
- When you want to add a more intensive step to your usual routine
As a general routine, we recommend incorporating it 2–3 times per week.
REALIZE PACK
A focused special-care treatment designed around the properties of CO₂ and skin-conditioning skincare.
More than surface hydration alone—that is the idea behind Plage beaute Realize Pack.
